20 week update

I realize I just did a 20 week update but I didn't include all the usual pictures and questions. So here is that post.

How far along: 20 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +5 lbs
Maternity Clothes: Definitely for all bottoms that would usually button... I'm still wearing normal shirts and elastic bottoms (skirts, workout shorts). I can wear some normal dresses and enjoying the comfort of some maternity dresses.
Stretch Marks: Nope!
Sleep: Going really well! As long as I get to bed before like 10pm I can wake up on time and not need a nap all day. Its the little victories :)
Best moment this week: Telling everyone the gender via the scavenger hunt!!
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Movement: SO MUCH KICKING!!! Caidyn is definitely a big mover - Brian enjoys feeling and is sometimes so surprised how forceful she is!
Food Cravings: I really love mozzarella sticks and glazed doughnuts. But because of that I feel gross and then crave healthy stuff. Right now I want black beans - they just sound so healthy!
Anything making you queasy or sick: At first I was really emotional about not guessing Caidyn's gender right. I felt like my mom intuition was already wrong and I didn't even know her at all. But the more I've thought about it the more I realize that I have so much time to get to know her, and if I am really honest with myself,  stopped being sure she was a boy about 3 weeks ago. So maybe my intuition is just a bit slower... which is ok because I have 4ish months until it needs to be super fast!
Have you started to show yet: Oh yes! And I'm enjoying showing off the pregnant belly with fitted shirts - something I avoided like the plague until about 2 weeks ago!
Gender Prediction: Ultrasound said girl!
Bellybutton in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On. But I'm not sure for how long. Whenever I get warm like by going outside my fingers swell up. I got a second wedding band for our first anniversary that was sized a little big - and I never got it resized for this occasion. When my engagement ring/first wedding band combo starts to be too tight I think they'll go into the safe deposit box and I'll just wear the bigger, skinnier, second wedding bad.
Moody at all: Yeah... I feel bad for Brian. Its just dawning on me we'll have a little baby and as prepared as I felt mentally I know feel like I have no clue what to do with a baby! I'm excited that at our next Dr's appt at the end of this month we'll get information about classes!
Looking forward to: Summer! And camp! And wearing a t-shirt and shorts and sneakers every day of the week! It will help me stay in good shape since I'l already be dressed for a workout and also make it easier to get dressed since its all elastic waistbands :)

20 weeks - half way there!

We had an AMAZING 20th week of pregnancy - I am almost sad to see it go.

We started off Sunday celebrating Grumpy and GC (Grandpa and Grandma Block)'s 28th Wedding Anniversary! We went out for a nice dinner on the water.

Taken on actual Week 20 Day 1

It was Memorial Day weekend so we used our Monday off celebrating Uncle Nathan and Aunt Bridget getting ENGAGED! Nathan proposed on Saturday at Magic Kingdom.

We are SO excited for them!!!

Tuesday I spent the day at the pool with the 8th graders - a nice way to end the year - and finals started Thursday.

Wednesday we had our 20 week ultrasound and checkup. Everything turned out great! We also found out the gender of baby C - but didn't tell anyone yet!

Friday was Auntie Ali's high school graduation! It was great to have all us Block girls together to celebrate!

Saturday we had a Gender Reveal Scavenger Hunt! We wanted to be able to tell our friends and family in a super fun way- so we designed a scavenger hunt for them to follow to figure out what Baby C is! It began in the park with each team getting a clue with a poem that led them to their jar of all the clues. They then followed each in order from place to place with a picture task at each stop. The last stop gave it away!

We had a ton of fun and I hope everyone else did! Here are some great snapshots!

We had so much fun and hope everyone else did to!

We can't wait to meet our little girl, Caidyn Arwen Wyss :)

Month 4

So maybe I'll only do monthy updates...

because I suck at blogging during the school year.

I will say - I have been REALLY focused at work since my intern left. Like I have an outline done for the entire first half of the year next year (I don't normally plan that way, but maternity leave has me totally freaked out... so I'm OVER planning for sure).

So month 4 is almost up. I'm at 19 weeks 1 day right now! Wow! If C is born in September I am more than half way done! Either way, I'm super close to be half way done! Or, about 4 1/2 months until there is a baby here! Eek!

So we got a LOT done these past couple weeks!

We emptied out the exercise room, moved the guest room furniture to the exercise room, and then painted C's room, primed the crib, sanded the dresser, purchased the chair, and created the art for C's room!

When I say we... the only thing Brian and I did was purchase the chair and created the art. And I am working on sanding the dresser now!

But we have AMAZING friends and family who helped us a ton.

Brian was going to be a bigger help... but then... moving the weight room... he dropped a 45lb weight on his foot. Ouch. And its broken. So he wasn't much of a help. And being I'm not supposed to lift or be in a room where painting is happening... I just worked on the art. And cooked for everyone.

We will have actual pictures of what we have so far for the nursery right after the scavenger hunt!

12 and 13 and 14 weeks

Turns out I suck at remembering to update this...

Especially since I was feeling much much better!

I got a little cold... We had our 12 week ultrasound and everything looked good - C was moving SO SO SO much - so we still don't have a decent profile ultrasound picture...

But we will soon! I actually go back on Wednesday (5 days!) for my 16 week appointment, and I think I get another ultrasound? Really not sure... I'm just kind of going with the flow.

Weeks 13 and 14 I was tired but could push through it... busy... as always... bought a few more things for C's nursery!

Not sure if I blog announced it but we have decided on doing a scavenger hunt gender reveal. We will find out about 2 days before the party, so we can prep, and everyone else has to follow the scavenger hunt to figure it out! Get ready for #WyssWyssBaby to go viral :)

JK. Get ready for 12 people to use #WyssWyssBaby.

We have also decided if C is a girl to spell it Caidyn, versus Caiden for a boy. I'm excited about that difference! But it is also the reason I am just writing C now since writing out the whole way would make it seem we know something now, which we don't.

Here are a few updated pictures... sorry for the worst post ever.

11 weeks

So we suck.

And left our camera at the high school during the track meet so we didn't take an 11 week picture. I plan on faking on this weekend (trying to suck in what I can - it is getting harder and harder!) so I have it for later on. I'll post my best attempt... I try to make it look at least a little different and do my hair different or something... we will see!

I can still update on how week 11 was!

How far along: 11 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I never checked at Publix last week. Honestly it is only something I remember to do when Brian does it... but I have no clue. I feel like maybe I am back to normal but also am REALLY worried I am not and the Dr will judge me. At this point I literally have 4 easy jobs and have only done 2 of them - stay sober and don't smoke. I don't think I've gained weight and I am really bad at taking the prenatal vitamin. I will get better at both!
Maternity Clothes: I bought a dress that I wore for Easter (that I can probably wear forever, it is adorable and not very maternity - in fact Traci - sister in law - was asking if they had it in other colors to buy for herself and she is def not preggo or getting preggo soon). I've also bought a couple other stretchy things - I feel so lucky that maxi skirts and dresses are in right now! Hello soft and stretchy!
Stretch Marks: We bought some cocoa butter lotion. Total blonde moment - Brian and I both expected that stuff to smell like coconut. I really don't like coconut and wasn't excited about it... but it smells like chocolate! Excellent surprise!
Sleep: I am starting to have weird dreams and be anxious when I go to sleep hoping that whenever I wake up to pee will be a convenient time... such a weird thing to be anxious about!
Best moment this week: I ordered the first thing for the nursery and it came! And Brian loved it (I didn't ask him about it before I ordered it... oops!)
Have you told family and friends: Yes! And my school. So everyone knows now!
Movement: Nothing I can feel but I think baby C was supposed to start moving recently so it is only a matter of a few weeks before I start feeling it!
Food Cravings: Not really... I finally can have froyo on a regular basis again and I still hate most sweets/ desserts. It is making me sad and I think a real cause for why I don't think I've gained weight.
Anything making you queasy or sick: 2 things, brushing my teeth but only in the morning. I just think my mouth isn't ready for all the flavor... and ITCHYNESS. I am SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO itchy. I called the Dr and she told me a few things it could be. For now I am putting on so so much lotion and benadryl at night to help calm me enough to fall asleep.
Have you started to show yet: I feel like both yes and no. My clothes aren't really tight enough to show that I am like barely pregnant shaped, just fitted enough that I look fat with my normal clothes. I have a weird anxious for when I start to look pregnant for people who didn't know me before and can't tell I'm bigger and I also don't want to start being too big too soon so I am just in limbo letting time go.
Gender Prediction: I have no idea anymore. I was so positive it was a boy and then it dawned on me there is a 50% chance it is a girl, which I knew... but now I'm not sure.
Bellybutton in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Moody at all: No, but I think I had my first hormonal cry inspired by the show Chicago Fire. It was really heart wrenching but Brian was hardly bothered and I was sobbing. It was bad.
Looking forward to: My dates were way off last week. I was 12 weeks at my appt. And there was a whole week I didn't account for. Looking forward to continuing this uptick of fewer stomach aches and more energy! And the same stuff as last week, haha.

10 weeks!

How far along? 10 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I haven't checked since week 9 to be honest... I will at Publix tonight (we always use the same Publix scale to keep it accurate, haha)
Maternity clothes? Wearing my first pair of actual maternity pants today!
Stretch marks? No - but I have awful awful dry skin that has spread to my stomach. In that same Publix run tonight I'm going to buy some stretch mark cream to start using as preventative maintenance
Sleep: I've been getting a little more energy lately - but still can sleep for 9-10 hours a night!
Best moment this week: Being asked if I was pregnant because the bump has officially popped. It was surreal but also nice that people went with preggo instead of lazy!
Have you told family and friends: Yes! And going to start telling my school administration this week and then everyone will know!
Miss Anything? Cheese sticks. And sangria.
Movement: Nothing yet!.
Food cravings: I want a medium rare prime rib like nobody's business. But the Dr said cook all meat well done. So I've been supplementing my steak cravings with meat I won't notice is well done like in tacos...it helps a little.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Hot showers. It has been awful :(
Have you started to show yet: yes! I know I popped really early but a few people have already asked me about it based on the bump!
Gender prediction: I still think it is a boy!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Our doctor's appointment next week and getting a definite due date. And it being April - Brian gets 5% cash back on all home improvement purchases that month so a ton of baby prep around the house will be getting done!!

Baby To-Do List

I feel like I should start by saying that yes, I realize that babies don't actually need much. And that I have a fair amount of time to get this stuff done before it really needs to be done.

However, it doesn't keep me from knowing it needs to be done eventually. And, as you'll get to know very well, I am a planner. I feel overwhelmed at the beginning of any big project but as soon as I figure out the steps I immediately feel better and can easily accomplish the task.

So... here is my list of what I would like to accomplish in a timeline in about the next year including what we have already started!

Before the end of May (when school gets out):
-Move things around in our bedroom to fit a chair (for late nights feedings/ cuddle time)
-Actually decorate our bedroom (paint wall, hang curtains, hang paintings)
-Register
-Put all the holiday stuff in the attic (purchase attic stairs and flooring for the attic first, then put it away)
-Move the exercise room stuff to the garage to clear out that room
-Go through all the stuff in both extra bedroom closets and clear it out so it all fits in one closet
-Move the guest bedroom furniture into the exercise room
-Find nursery furniture
-Plan nursery
-Sing you are my sunshine to Caiden every time my stomach aches (it really helps!)
-Do as much yoga/stretching/walking/possibly running as I can to keep as active and ready for labor as possible

Over the summer:
-Get everything nursery wise finished
-Figure out exactly what is needed for the first 4 months of baby. Get it all and have it ready.
-Figure out things with HR and such for being out for maternity leave
-Write birth plan
-Attend some sort of birthing or parenting class
-Start planning what will go in the hospital bag.
-Start prepping the puppy-boys for a baby. Bring a stroller on walks sometimes. Put the carseat in the car and get them used to not sitting in it.
-Sing you are my sunshine to Caiden whenever I remember to.
-Arrange someone to watch the boys when we are at the hospital
-Do as much yoga/stretching/walking/possibly running as I can to keep as active and ready for labor as possible

Once school starts until the baby comes:
-Make all video lectures for the entire first half of the school year (Unit 1 already done!)
-Start creating pre-tests for the first half of the school year and accompanying activities
-Find an awesome, or at least decent, long-term sub.
-Sing you are my sunshine to Caiden whenever I remember to.
-Do as much yoga/stretching/walking/possibly running as I can to keep as active and ready for labor as possible

Mid-September:
-re-wash all baby bedding types things (changing pad covers, bassinett sheets, etc)
-actually pack hospital bag
-Do as much yoga/stretching/walking/possibly running as I can to keep as active and ready for labor as possible

Before Caiden crawls...:
-prep house for a baby (outlet covers, cabinet door locks, toilet locks)
-get the boys used to a moving baby
-Remake the den into more of a second living room/play room with a couch/sectional and shelving for baby toys... no real need for a glass top desk anymore! Especially since we always use laptops now...

So that is all I can think of for now. Obviously it isn't all necessary and probably won't all get done (my goal was to get everything wedding done before the school year started and October and early November before the Thanksgiving wedding were SO busy doing wedding prep) BUT it is a plan and it is an amazing feeling to see it all written down and most already being accomplished!

I'll be posting more nursery ideas very soon - I'm SUPER DUPER excited about the whole nursery and the ideas I have - I can't wait for it to be a reality!
