Run run run!

Since Mommy was able to go home from the hospital and family was able to be with her all weekend we kept our reservations in Tampa to run the Best Damn Race. We had signed up for this race back in May being exciting it would be our first little out of town family vacation in a hotel and it would be Brian's first half marathon ever and my first post baby race. C came a little early so I was able to "run" in the Gobble Gobble 4 miler, but I wouldn't really consider that a race (I just wanted to finish...).

We drove up Friday afternoon through crazy rain and finally made it to the hotel just after dark. We brought the pack and play for Caidyn to sleep in and it worked perfectly. We gave her a bath and put her to bed and she slept like a champion.

That was until my 10k call time the next morning. When I woke up Caidyn was still sleeping super soundly so I started pumping (I hoped to pump a little and feed her - something I can do after sleeping through the night #engorgement) and she woke up. And ended up being super fussy, still feeling warm, and eating for over 45 minutes. I gave myself a lot of time that morning, but definitely not 45 minutes to just sit and feed her (she usually eats for about 15). It was getting to the point where I wasn't sure if I would be able to be fully fueled after her eating so much (I had done a 5 mile run in December I had to stop early because I was getting dizzy from hunger even though I had eaten a banana and had oatmeal). I was frustrated and nervous and I also felt guilty because my little baby girl was still feeling warm (not an actual fever, but def warm) and Brian and I decided I should pull from my 10k and only run the 5k. I was then able to take my time getting myself ready and give Caidyn more time to sleep off her little warmness.

We sent Brian off to his race and made sure to fuel up and then get ready for our race!

Obviously Caidyn needed to dress for exercise and wore her perfectly adorable sweat suit. She rode along for the 5k and I ran the whole thing - no walking! I was so excited! This was the first time that happened since before I was pregnant. Yay!

Her daddy did AMAZING! He finished his first 1/2 marathon in under 2 hours 10 minutes! SO GREAT!

We love running and love that we can bring Caidyn on so many runs with us. We hope that one day she'll love it, too, and we can run together as a family!

Caidyn loves Gramma

Well this was a weird week for us.

On Sunday afternoon we took my mommy to the hospital because she was having some memory and word recall issues and a lot of pain. We found out she had a bleed in her brain. It was really scary - she was in the ICU for like 2 days, then the neurological wing of the hospital, and today she came home! She will be out of work for a long time but her prognosis is good and she should heal up. They are saying it is a totally random event and, as long as the tests keep coming back normal, isn't something she needs to worry about in the future!

It was an especially stressful week for me as Brian had to go out of town for work. I was able to be at the hospital with my mom during the day while Caidyn was at daycare, but I always felt so sad I had to leave by 4:20 to pick Baby C up.

But Caidyn and I had a little photo shoot to bring some of her cheerful spirit to the hospital to make her Gramma happy :)

1/3 of the year has past!

And she is 4 months old now! Oh goodness!

So the theme of this months pictures was numbers. There are lots of fun numbered facts about my little 4 month old munchkin!

Most impressive - both the number of foods she has tried and how big she is! 16 lb 6 oz! Holy moly! At her littlest weight, shortly after we came home from the hospital, she was only 5lb 2 oz. Meaning she has more than tripled in size since birth! Crazy. But she is perfect.

On her 4 month birthday we had dinner at Gramma and Grumpypa's house and Grumpypa bought Caidyn the cutest little cake! It happened to coordinate really well with the outfit she had on (one of the adorable onsies from the onsie game at my beautiful baby shower). She ended up with her first taste of frosting that evening - and, duh, loved it!

Oh my goodness my 4 month old girl! I love you so much and I can't believe that much time has already flown by! Wow!!!!

#Wyssmas2013 and New Years 2014

We had an amazing Christmas this year! We started off with church and then Christmas even dinner at my grandparents house - Caidyn and I wore our matching outfits! And you better believe I will be stalking to get that onsie or a dress or something for next year (and probably every year forever) so we can always match.
Christmas morning we woke up just the 5 of us (A, B, C, + the boys!) and had a nice little time!
Then the Block/Bershad side of the family came over for brunch - it was super yummy! We have hosted brunch at our house the past couple years and it has turned into one of my favorite traditions!
After that the Wyss/Havemeier family came over for dinner - we made lasagna (one of my favorites!) and hung out - it was a nice change for a year to host while Papa and Nana's house is renovated.

A week later we celebrated Caidyn's first new years! Our little girl wore her "best" outfit and saw some fireworks that Grumpypa put on for her - some scared her and some she loved! Mommy and Baby were both asleep by 10:30, but Daddy stayed up to make sure 2014 happened :)
